“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton
Light is fantastic. Bright sunshine cheers us all up, especially after a few days of heavy cloud or rain! But within a home lights can do wonders…
I love having vases full of clear fairy lights and nothing else – remember they are not just for Christmas. Tall thick candles also work well and if you get a scented one it does two jobs in one! With the main room lights turned down, some candles lit and the fairy lights on this is great to create a lovely atmosphere.
You can buy some great twigs with fairy lights around them increase the feel of nature in a home, particularly if you are trying to create a country cottage theme.
It’s not just a lightbulb in your main room and then you’re sorted! Tea lights are lovely around the bath (especially in lanterns), candles on the dinner table (even if its just the two of you).
Just as Edith Wharton says above, a mirror reflecting light can spread light – it can also increase the look of the room even though your walls haven’t moved an inch!
Have a go yourself.
