Hygge – pronounced (hue-gə or hoo-gə) refers to “a form of everyday togetherness”, “a pleasant and highly valued everyday experience of safety, equality, personal wholeness and a spontaneous social flow.
There are many things you can do to your home to embrace Hygge.
Firstly: add candles – lots of them! They add a glow nothing else can, they add warmth as well – it is a power that brings us together. Whether or not you purchase a scented one the scent heightens our senses.
They look glamorous too!

Secondly, less is much more. Don’t over do the furniture, accessories, pictures or plants.
Spread the furniture round the house – nothing too bold or brash. Keep it simple, clean and don’t over do it.

Lastly, keep it cosy and add tonnes of texture.
Add textured accessories to the house with knitted throws, and cashmere cushions, when you combine that with other textures such as wood and metal the feel you get is part of the fabulous Hygge. Don’t forget that.
